Week 48:Howdy

Howdy howdy my people!

Another good week down!

We had zone conference this week and that is always so uplifting and inspiring. One thing our mission president has come up with that he is pushing is mnemonics. It is a way of remembering things using mental images. So I can know say the basic doctrine in every chapter and section in the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants. It is pretty amazing and useful. And he is just about to give us the ones for the new testament.

We had exchanges with the senior senior training leaders this week. They are something we have in our mission that are the girl version of the assistants to the president. It was fun to go on exchanges with them. Their area is a part of our area but they are English. But, there are lots of Spanish speakers too. So i was able to practice lots since I was the only one who could speak Spanish. It was cool to see how much the Lord has been helping me with learning the language.

I also got the wonderful opportunity to video call into my home state for a mission prep night they put on for the youth. So the young women were able to ask us questions about what it is like and our experiences. It was amazing. They are really the better generation as my mission president says. The next generation is always better than the last. It was really fun to be able to see some people from back home, and to be able to reflect on my experiences and what I've learned.

So overall it has been a good week with lots of great learning experiences :)

Thanks for all the love and support!
Love,
Hermana Nielson :D

Week 47: Out with a Bang at least a knock!

Hello a todos!

Another week down and more stories to tell. This week has been pretty long, but some miracles happened at the end.

So lots of the people we were working with have stopped talking to us, some have moved, and others are flat out not interested anymore, but that is the life of missionary. Its always a cycle, but definitely comes in waves.

The past few weeks we have been trying to figure out what the couple Catalina and Nicolas need. We thought about the priesthood power and the blessings for healing and felt like we needed to teach them about that and invite Catalina to get one for her back. They were excited when we talked with them about it, and said they would be at church and we could do it then. Well, they came to church!! They liked the service and were able to get Catalina a blessing of healing. We are so excited for them to progress and receive more peace and blessings in their lives.

We also had a little time Sunday night that we decided to knock these little town home things and in the four doors, 3 people were interested, and one door didn't answer. There are so many people in need of and ready for the gospel and it's such a miracle that we can be led to find them.

So we are exciting coming into the new week to continue finding more and hopefully getting back in with the ones from this week.

Love,
Hermana Nielson :)

Week 46:Howdy Howdy

Hello everyone. This week was pretty good. Transfers were on Tuesday and nothing changed over here companion wise. We did however find out we are in a car share with the stone mountain a elders. So that was a shock and we had to figure out how to deal with that since we already had plans we needed the car for. But now we have it figured out to have it for half the week and then switch with the elders. Sister Zuniga has been full car her whole mission so this is pretty scary for her, but we are working through it and the elders have been really nice to us.

Things have kinda settled down after the holidays which has been really nice. We also have found some new people we are really excited to start working with them more. Ofelia is back from the holidays so we had another lesson. We are even going to do some video chat lessons to supplement the gospel learning after our English lessons. Technology is such a blessing and she is so amazing!

We had a duck fly into the side of our car while we were getting home for the night. Our apartment comes has some resident ducks that just kinda chill around and wiggle their butts and his if you get to close. But we always call them fun names when we come out. "Hey Gerald! Good to see you Carlyle. How's it hanging Remington?" But we were driving and about to park and richard came flying at sister zunigas window. And he kept flapping until we saw his little feet walk on the window to get him up and onto the windshield where he continued flying off. So everything was good. I was laughing soooooo hard and everytime I think of it I die laughing too.

Our zone focus this transfer is finding. I'm super pumped and excited to get out, work hard, and be smart :)

Love y'all!

Week 45: Feliz Ano Neuvo

Hello everyone! This has been a pretty great week. Transfer calls were yesterday, and nothing is changing over here, so we are staying together for another great transfer :)

This week we were able to find a few people this that we are going to visit back tonight which is exciting. It's truly amazing how the gospel is so personal that it really helps everyone. And I'm so lucky I get to be the one to bring it to people.

We also went on exchanges with the STL's which was a blast. We have the best ones so it is always fun and motivating but not stressful which is great! But I had sister Gray here in my area and it was a blast. We didn't get to talk to a ton of people because the holidays are making it super hard and people won't answer the door, but we are hoping things settle in with the new year.

We also have been struggling with some of the people we are teaching who aren't progressing. And we haven't been able to get in with them as much to figure out what they need. So we could use prayers for them.

On New Year's day we were out tracting that night and there were some families setting off fireworks that we got to watch as we tracted. But everytime they set of arial ones I would jump and may have jumped/ yelled on peoples doors. It was actually pretty funny.

Anyway, things are going pretty well. Love y'all!! And Thank you for all your support!

Week 44: Feliz Navidon't throw up

This week was great! I love the light the world initiative! But let's dive right into the week.

Christmas eve we ate with the relief society president and her family. Hermana Erazo is from Honduras so I got to try Honduran food and it was amazing. And they show their love in food, and to be grateful and kind of a sense of pride, you finish the plate. She gave us so much to eat. It was literally 5 lbs of hispanic food. It was delicious but I seriously almost popped. I had to loosen my skirt, I was swearing, and focusing on just not throwing up. But other than being so full I thought I was going to die, it was really fun. And at one point they had the beegees on, you know, your typical Christmas eve vibe.

Christmas we opened our presents in the morning and spent the day visiting members. Its a great way to get out and spread the message of Christ without making people mad at you which is always a plus. We had dinner with the Mancilla family and that was really fun. Hermana mancillas family was there too and that was funny because they started talking about politics at one point and the cliche family dinner things. I thought it was hilarious. And then we got to share the Christ child video on their new projector and discuss what it means to each of us. It was really special and then they gave us each cute nativity decorations.

This weeks miracle was Martín. We met him at a park and set up an appointment with him the next day. He is so nice. He can't read or write and is all by himself, but he is looking to join a church, and wants to learn more about Jesus. We helped him download the Book of Mormon app to start listening to it. He is very precious. It's amazing to see how God works to put who we need in our paths, and how we get to be the people God uses to reach out and help his children.

I hope y'all had a wonderful week and keep focusing on ways to serve and look outside yourself.

The Lord will help you in all you do.

Love ya!
